Why Every ETP Must Be Designed for Your Effluent
No two industrial effluents are the same. Wastewater from a dyeing unit is coloured and salty; from a dairy, it is rich in fats and organics; from an electroplating line, it carries metals; from a foundry or machining shop, it contains oil, coolant and suspended solids. A "standard" ETP bought off a catalogue usually fails because it was never designed for your effluent.
Our process always starts with your effluent. We study your production process, collect and test samples, check daily volume and peak loads, and read your TNPCB consent conditions. Only then do we design the treatment train.
ETP Treatment Stages We Use
Primary Treatment
Screening, oil and grease traps, equalisation and neutralisation prepare the effluent and protect later stages. For oily effluents we add oil skimmers or dissolved air flotation (DAF).
Physico-Chemical Treatment
Coagulation, flocculation and clarification remove colour, suspended solids, metals and part of the chemical oxygen demand (COD). Sludge is thickened and dewatered in a filter press.
Biological Treatment
Where effluent contains biodegradable organics — food, dairy, textile or mixed effluent — we use MBBR, extended aeration, MBR or anaerobic reactors like UASB to reduce BOD and COD.
Tertiary Treatment
Pressure sand filters, activated carbon filters, ultrafiltration and disinfection polish the water for discharge or reuse.
Water Recovery and ZLD
Where the consent requires zero discharge or you want to save water, an industrial RO plant recovers clean water and the reject is handled through evaporators. See zero liquid discharge systems.

The Real Cost of a Poor ETP
An ETP that does not work costs far more than the plant itself. Units with failing plants face show-cause notices, closure directions or power disconnection from the pollution control board, and every day of shutdown means lost orders. Buyers and export customers increasingly audit their suppliers' environmental compliance, so a weak ETP can also cost you business.
On the operating side, an undersized plant burns money every month — extra chemicals to force results, frequent sludge disposal, damaged pumps and RO membranes that need early replacement. Designing the ETP correctly the first time, and running it with discipline, is the cheapest option over the life of your unit.
Upgrading or Revamping an Existing ETP
Many Coimbatore units run ETPs built years ago for lower production. Common signs of trouble are failing outlet tests, foaming, sludge carry-over, frequent RO membrane fouling and rising chemical bills. We audit the existing plant, identify the bottleneck stage and upgrade only what is needed — often far cheaper than a new plant.
